In July 2000, Elson went to AIT-Extension, to join a team that provided training in the production of basic educational webpages. Elson is largely responsible for the design of Stoneware Pottery website.
.
Elson occasionally contributes opinion articles to Mindanao Goldstar Daily
and Mindanews. In May 2004, Elson's photo "Hanunuo Mangyan Father and Child" was chosen finalist to the "River of Life" photo contest of the World Health Organization.

NETWORKING. Nazca is in touch with designers, photographers, computer programmers, and printers in Manila and abroad, like Clara's father Regino Gonzales, Jr., who provides advice on secure data-base construction and management. Regino is an International Information Technology Consultant. He is a former Associate Director of the Regional Computer Center, AIT, Thailand. He has written over 30 IT manuals and is involved in a project for Asian Development Bank.

Another consultant is Philip Wayner, a retired master photographer and teacher from Euclid, Cleveland, Ohio. Philip provides Elson free advice via email. He uses the Internet to teach students in Iceland, Argentina, Greece, Australia, Canada, the US, and the Philippines "as the way I keep myself busy."

VOLUNTEERISM. Clara and Elson, who got married in 2004, are members of the Heritage Conservation Advocates (HCA) and often help anthropological projects by making photographic, educational materials. Nazca's CD presentation about Huluga was brought by anthropologist Dr. Erlinda Burton to Leiden, Netherlands during the 7th International Conference on Philippine Studies from June 16 to 19, 2004.

Sophia pearl earringPHILOSOPHY. Founded in 1998, Nazca recognizes the importance of knowledge and creativity, and the practical wisdom in making designs that fit, delight and communicate. Nazca believes in the minimalist dictum that "form follows function".

This value explains why webpages made by Nazca remain organized like a book. Photos made by Nazca also serve as useful representations of the original. In the website of The Stoneware Pottery, Inc, for instance, the surfer can rest assured that what he sees is close to what he gets. So, his judgement is not impaired by decorative clutter such as irrelevant animations and harsh graphics. Each photo can stand as an independent, strong, and useful reference for aesthetic and financial decision-making.

Now concentrating on website and CD brochure production, Nazca is aware that a huge part of cyberspace, despite its power and fury, is a blinding wasteland. So, Nazca strives to be simple and direct. Nazca uses space -- lots of it -- to help clients deliver their important messages, to make their presentations clear, functional, and lasting.

About Nazca

Our group Nazca Graphic Design & Photography is named after a mysterious desert in southern Peru. When viewed from the ground, this place called Nazca appears ordinarily barren and desolate, but from a height of 500 meters, it reveals numerous long lines, geometric forms and immense drawings of animals. Eighteen of these shapes are birds drawn in a scale of 30 to 300 meters in length.

These vast designs, done on 500 square kilometers, were made 2000 to 3000 years ago by a pre-Columbian tribe. Why would a people create such giant figures that could only be seen and appreciated from the sky? Are the lines landing grounds for ancient spacecrafts? Are they astronomical calendars, religious displays?

Nobody knows, yet, the purpose of these drawings.

SKILLS. In the Philippines, there is no place named Nazca, but we chose this name because two of us have a liking for anthropology, fine art, education, and living things. Clara Marie Asuncion Q. Gonzales Elizaga, a cum laude graduate in Industrial Design from the College of St. Benilde, De La Salle University, Manila. Clara was a frequent visitor and observer at the Philippine Product Development and Design Center (PDDCP) where her mother is a division chief.

After graduation, Clara taught Photoshop, AutoCAD, graphic design and color psychology at the Regional Computer Center, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.

Clara also provides training and designs to local handicraft companies, like the Salay Handmade Paper Industries, Inc.(SHAPII), a successful exporter in Salay, Misamis Oriental. She is the designer and manager of Kindelen Enterprises, a firm offering Philippine handwoven fiber and industrial design consultancy. She is a consultant to firms who need designs and planning for their booths in trade and artPoster of Sophia Jewelry at SM Cagayan de Oro fairs.
She designed the color scheme for SLERS Express Meals at Gaisano City, Cagayan de Oro, which was inaugurated in August 2006. She designed the store and posters of Sophia Jewelry at SM Cagayan de Oro.

Nazca also has Elson T. Elizaga, a creative writer, photographer and a recipient of the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. In previous years he worked as resident anthropological process documenter of a Hanunuo Mangyan tribe in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

In 1998, he led the discovery of the first recorded megamouth shark (Megachasma pelagios) in Southeast Asia, resulting in a website that has been translated into Italian and German.

Elson is skilled in educational media production, after he joined a one-month workshop sponsored by the Philippine Human Resource Development Center and the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Manila.
